The 8th SUT International Colloquium on Agricultural Technology
"Agricultural Innovation for Sustainability and Adaptation in Global Boiling"

at C2-124 Academic Building 2, Institute of Agricultural Technology, Suranaree University of Technology

The annual colloquium was initiated to address the need for enhanced research communication skills among graduate students and to create a collaborative environment where both students and faculty could share and learn from each other. This cross-disciplinary approach was intended to foster connections between fields, encouraging integrated research efforts that could address complex, real-world problems more effectively.

To help graduate students develop the skills needed to present research professionally and create opportunities for students and faculty across different fields to exchange ideas, the faculty initiated an annual colloquium, rotating the host field each year to foster interdisciplinary learning and research integration.

School of Crop Production Technology hosted the event under the theme, "Agricultural Innovation for Sustainability and Adaptation in Global Boiling". As environmental changes accelerate globally, agricultural technology and innovation must evolve to meet these challenges. Emerging agricultural technologies reflect a highly competitive landscape where new advancements appear rapidly. Deep knowledge that enables the development of new technologies and innovations is essential for sustaining competitiveness and ensuring the vitality of this sector. The cultivation of human resources with specialized expertise is, therefore, crucial to building the country’s capacity for innovation and enhancing its competitive edge.

Thailand, however, continues to face significant social, economic, and educational disparities, contributing to unemployment and worsening inequality. Addressing this issue is partly the responsibility of researchers, who must develop accessible technologies and innovations that can support sustainable agricultural development. Thus, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology’s colloquium serves as a vital platform for graduate students, new researchers, and experienced researchers to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and broaden their perspectives. This event also supports students and researchers in designing effective research projects and developing an appreciation for integrated research as a means to solve pressing agricultural challenges. Ultimately, the colloquium promotes a shared understanding of the need for sustainable, innovative solutions that advance agriculture in the context of global warming, leading to "sustainable development."
